The 9th French Avian Research Days
TOURS, 29th and 30th March, 2011
The European poultry business, and in particular the French branch, has undergone considerable changes over a number of years.
In addition to the constraints imposed by productivity, quality and technology demands have been added increasingly strict regulatory requirements,
in line with current trends in environmental protection and animal well-being.
Furthermore, sanitary and food safety have become increasingly important and the economic context more competitive.
To meet these new demands, the poultry product market has become segmented.
However, with falling poultry consumption in France, declining exports and growing imports this sector questions its future.
In this economic context,
the challenge for French poultry research is to anticipate and find solutions with professionals that will protect the poultry production and processing sectors in France and meet the multiple expectations of supermarkets,
the catering and restaurant market, the consumer and . citizens.
For this reason researchers and professionals need to meet regularly to discuss their preoccupations,
their questions, their trials and their results.
This is the purpose of the French Avian Research Days created in 1995 by INRA,
CNEVA (henceforth AFSSA) and ITAVI with the cooperation of the French branches of the WPSA and the WVPA,
two international associations.
